The historical society has a large selection of archival material for geneologists and historians. It is located in the Belleville Public Library.

HISTORIC PLAQUES: Marking the 200th anniversary of the City of Belleville and the 150th anniversary of Canada, the Hastings County Historical Society placed five historical plaques in the downtown core. Stretch your legs and do a walking tour and learn about various historic buildings, events and locations: the Fire Hall at 394 Front Street, Simpson's Tavern at Dundas and Front Streets, the Griffin Opera House at 65 Bridge Street E, the Great Belleville Floods at 224 Front Street and the Pinnacle Street Railway at the Belleville Club, 210 Pinnacle St.
