Two kilometres away from Zakynthos (Zante) city, we arrive at Strani Hill. This is were our National Poet Dionisios Solomos, who ispired from canonnades in Mesologgi ,wrote our National Anthem.
Only 2 km from the city is the hill of Strani, right on the junction that we turn to Bohali. Here our national poet D. Solomos inspired and wrote our national anthem. In the small square, where the bust of D. Solomos dominates today, was the tree in whose shadow he wrote the "Hymn to Freedom" and the "Free Forgiven". The beauty of the landscape (a verdant pine-tree hill) and the wonderful view help us to understand to what extent these elements played a decisive role and inspired our national poet to create these wonderful works. Access to the hill of Stani is very easy and short of the city.
