Quirky and cosmopolitan, Machynlleth is the heart of the alternative movement in Mid Wales and the location of the nearest mainline railway station. Situated in one of the UK's few biospheres, the town is fun, colourful and, on a Wednesday, home to one of the best street markets in the area. Combine with a visit to Corris Craft Centre or the Centre for Alternative Technology for a great day out.

The train journey from Mach to the sea side town of Aberystwyth is 30 minutes via train through the Ynys-hir reserve. Absolutely stunning scenery. Or take the train up the coast following the magnificent Dovey Estuary to the seaside town of Barmouth going over the famous bridge. Stunning.

Trains to Borth and Aberystwyth, or the coastline to Aberdyfi, Tywyn, Barmouth, Harlech, Portmeirion and Pwllheli. Traverses some wonderful scenery. Also connects to Shrewsbury and Birmingham where you can change for London and anyother part of the UK.
