Patterson, NY (50 Thunder Ridge Road) This is a great place to try out skiing for the first time if you've never been. They also have a few very challenging trails if you're more experienced.

It's a great place for local and beginners. I recommend it. I think it's a stretch to call any of the slopes black diamond but intermediate skiing. Having grown up going to Tahoe and skiing in CA, UT and Colorado it's a wonderful place to learn to ski and sneak away for a day. Agreed, on their covid protocols need to be improved though. Too many people, too close. In my opinion, all businesses like this should require a contact tracing form to be turned in when you pick up your ticket (fill it out at home). Too many "kids" running the place.

just an hour north of NYC, Thunder Ridge was where i learned how to ski! located a few miles from Putnam Lake, the winter season could be the most convenient ski experience ever-Day and Night skiing offered. always helpful staff-great for beginners and advanced skiers alike
