Take the train up the coastline to San Juan Capistrano. Be sure to sit on the west side of the train. And you will love SJC! Great day trip!

Also the Surfrider goes the same route with a fraction of the price! Great to go south to downtown San Diego or north to San Clemente. They allow bicycles on the train too.
