"Perched on the Indian Ocean's shore, the WA Maritime Museum is symbolic of Fremantle’s past, present and future as a coastal city and port. The Museum houses several unique galleries that explore WA's maritime relationship. From leisure boats and handcrafted sailing boats to commercial pearl luggers, the Museum inspires visitors to discover WA’s affinity with the ocean. The Museum is home to the winning America's Cup yacht, Australia II, an Oberon class submarine — HMAS Ovens, Jon Sanders’ Parry Endeavour and many other iconic vessels from WA's maritime history."

All about Fremantle peoples relationship with the ocean. Houses the yacht that won the Americas cup that put Fremantle on the map as a place to visit. History of our fishing & pearling industry and the local families that made that happen. Beautiful building on the wharf in Fremantle. A number of permanent and visiting exhibitions.

Fremantle is a working port with a long and varied history, and everything that goes with that is captured here. Look out for Australia II, the yacht that won the America's Cup from the USA for the first time ever in 1983! The Ship Wrecks Museum is also worth a look (and it's cheaper too).
