Are the two resources to use for understanding the local backcountry options. For local mountain biking go to idigvt.com and click on Play and then Bike. The closest trails are the Contest and Ash Hill Trials and can be accessed at the top of Liberty Hill Road. Take a left out of the driveway at the bottom of the hill take a right up Liberty Hill about a mile and you will see where the maintained road ends. There is a parking area there and a National Forest sign. I like to drive up in my car to the parking, unload my bike and access the trails from there. The first climb is a grinder and you may want that but I like to save my energy for the forest and the single tracks. You can access the Contest Trail Down on your left about ¾ of a mile down.
