Fox & The Knife is acclaimed celebrity chef Karen Akunowicz’s homage to the year she spent working in Modena, Italy. Akunowicz won James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef of the Northeast in 2018 and you can taste why in the food at her first solo venture. Bostonians are flocking to the restaurant and it was already named one of Food and Wine Magazine’s best new restaurants of 2019. The restaurant has a feel of a lively neighborhood vibe paired with sophisticated décor and an open kitchen where you can watch the chef and sous-chef cook (the bar is a wonderful place to sit and watch it all happen). The menu embraces Italian food and culture beginning with appretivo light bites, followed by antipasti, primi, and secondi. The primi pasta dishes are also large enough to be mains. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared with each ingredient in harmony. You can’t go wrong with any option, but my favorites are below. Fox & The Knife is very popular and uses the reservation system Resy. I recommend downloading Resy and setting a notification for when reservations open up here in order to reserve a table or walk in and sit at the bar.
