A small "hofje" (courtyard) in the side street of the Peperstraat. It's a small garden in the city center of Groningen. You can hardly believe such an quiet area exists in the city. Groningen has multiple hidden “hofjes”. Most of the citizens living in these "hofjes" are elderly people. Annely her grandparents (Ria's parents) were married in the little church in 1957. Another pretty "hofje" is the Pelstergasthuis, which is near the favourite pizzeria of Ria and Annely. Walk in for free but please be quiet.

Het Pepergasthuis is een hofje in de stad Groningen. De officiële naam luidt Geertruidsgasthuis, maar het heeft altijd bekend gestaan als het Pepergasthuis, naar de naam van de straat waaraan het is gelegen, de Peperstraat.
