If you're looking for a cultural break filled with theatre, film, museums and art there is plenty on offer. All our big theatres are here, including two (the Kings Theatre and New Theatre Royal) that were designed by revered architect Frank Matcham. Portsmouth Guildhall also has live music; the city's gig venues having played host to some of the world's biggest and best-loved acts. We also have an independent cinema in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard called No. 6 Cinema – an interesting venue and well worth a visit – google them! Albert Road, meanwhile, is the hub of Portsmouth's celebrated independent culture. Offering local shops, pubs, live music venues and more, this truly is a road unlike any other. Victorious Festival held in August every year is something not to be missed and the Studio is an ideal location for this three day event.
