Monument to the Girondins, Place des Quinconces. One of Bordeaux’s most distinctive landmarks. The monument honors the Girondins, a group of moderate bourgeois National Assembly MPs (députés) during the French Revolution. 22 of them were executed in 1793 after being convicted of counter-revolutionary activities.

Le monument aux Girondins est une fontaine montée d'une haute colonne surplombée d'une statue. Elle se trouve sur la place des Quinconces (12 ha), plus vaste place de France et l'une des plus vastes d'Europe.
