In Syntagma square you can see the Greek Parliament building and in front of it the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by the Evzones in traditional costume.

If you start at the top of Syntagma Square and walk down the steps and past the fountain, at the bottom of the square is the beginning of Ermou Street, a paradise for those who live to shop.

Syntagma square (Constitution square) is located at the centre of modern Athens. It faces the Greek Parliament, this impressive palace that used to be the residency of King Otto. In front of this aristocratic building are the soldiers, known as the Evzones who guard the Greek Parliament wearing the traditional Greek uniform. Today, Syntagma square houses the homonymous metro station and a couple of nice cafes. It is worth mentioning that it is one of the largest squares in Greece surrounded by beautiful luxurious hotels, a lot of travel agencies and many exchange booths.
