The Sinopie They were the preparatory drafts of the frescoes. The name derives from the Black Sea city of Sinope, from which came the red earth used for drafts. Following the bombing of the monumental cemetery, and the consequent fire of the roof, many frescoes that covered the walls were dangerous. The only way to preserve them was to proceed with their detachment, through the technique of "tearing", which led to the discovery of the underlying "sinopie" the preparatory drawings.

Si trova all’interno dell’ edificio Ospedale Nuovo (1257). Le sinopie (grandi disegni preparatori: l’idea originale dei maestri) sono state ritrovate al di sotto degli affreschi del Camposanto. Sono utili per lo studio dei capolavori.

Vi sono esposti gli affreschi con le loro sinopie (disegni preparatori) staccati dal cimitero monumentale. Raro e sapiente opera di restauro e conservazione.
