The Temple Major is the main synagogue of Rome. It was built between 1901 and 1904. For the Roman Jews, the Tempio Maggiore represents, in addition to a place of prayer, a fundamental cultural landmark and houses the Jewish museum of Rome.

Here is the Tempio Maggiore, the main synagogue of Rome, built between 1901 and 1904 on one of the four plots of land obtained by demolishing the most dilapidated areas of the Ghetto. This imposing building that exchanges stories with the nearby Tiber is dominated by a pavilion dome with a square base. His style is intended to be a reference to that of ancient Palestine, with its fusion of Assyrian, Egyptian and especially Greek elements adapted to the architectural context of Rome.

Jewish ghetto, very close and nice place to take a walk and eat. On via del portico d'ottavia you will find a lot of typical Jewish roman restaurant.
