Expect stunning views of Kaikoura’s Range, seal colonies bathing on rocks (look but don’t touch) and pockets of history to read up on.

The seal colony and Peninsula walk are a must do in Kaikoura. The walk is 1.5 hours abd can connect to a 12km loop track.

We love the peninsula walk and it's beautiful bays! The colors of the water are amazing and the bays have transformed since the 2016 7.8 earthquake due to coastal uplift. These are beautiful bays we do not recommend swimming in due to their shallow rocky waters and large seal population so enjoy them from outside the water! You will get a stunning view of the Kaikoura ranges one side and the beautiful blue water on the other the entire way round. An easy but amazing walk.

This is a good 1/2 hours walk from the cottage or 10 minute drive. This is New Zealands 2nd most visited place. Seeing the rock formation up close from the result of the 2016 earthquake is quite picturesque.
