Calvert Cliffs is a region famous for fossil hunting, and perfect for kids. There's plenty of sites to chose; we've found that Matoaka Beach (1 hr, 15min), is an enjoyable afternoon destination. The tall cliffs provide shade in the afternoon, and there's a large shallow area for the kids to swim (watch out for jelly fish 'tho). The beach is private, $5 entry fee per person (kids might be free), and perhaps a little less crowded then the public beaches. We've found a shark teeth right at the beach edge, and it's a nice little picnic spot (a little bit of a walk from the parking lot, down the cliffs, and along the beach)

Go here to find cool shark teeth and fossils. 5 dollar entry fee on weekdays and 10 dollar entry fee on weekends

Matoaka Beach Cabins has a nice quiet beach. They charge 10.00 for the day, but a hidden gem if looking for a beach day along with shell and sharks teeth searching.
