一面苔に覆われた庭園で有名。一般には苔寺の通称で知られ、「古都京都の文化財」として世界遺産に登録されている。拝観に当たっては、事前に申込みが必要。 SAIHOUJI TEMPLE, which is famed for its moss garden, is commonly referred to as "Koke-dera" (moss temple). It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto". Admission requires much in advance.
