One of the most Critical places in Zakinthos Strains hill Is where our National Poet Dionisios Solomos Wrote The National Athnem of Greece, The Hymn To the Freedom, i just write it and it gave me the chills, the story goes that he was sitting there and writing the poem which is consisted to be the longest and unfitted in greek history while he was listening the canons of war in the mainland when the exit of the slavery was taking place.

Strani’s Hill is a beautiful wooded place that offers a captivating view. This was one of Dionysios Solomos favorite places; it was here that the poet was inspired, from canonnades in Mesologgi, and wrote the “Hymn to Liberty” that later became Greece’s National Anthem. At a short distance on top of the hill there is Solomo’s mansion, while at the small square in front of it one may see his bust.
