I did this tour and walked by myself. I wish I had stayed closer to a guide who could tell me more about what I was seeing.

Join a on a once-in-a-lifetime excursion from the lodge out to the terminus of the Matanuska Glacier. Guides will narrate the tour, share their knowledge and are more than happy to stop for photos along the way. Self-guided tours are also available in the summer.

Matanuska Glacier Adventures offers glacier hiking tours on the Matanuska Glacier all year-round. It is owned and operated by long-time local Glacier View residents.

This is a really nice way to get up and close with a glacier. They try to make it accessible for all. You will need to make a day of it though as it is about a two-hour drive out. Maybe stop at a valley brewery on the way back into town for a meal?
