Orenchi Beyond

This place is on Valencia, right under the freeway, and they always have a line outside. They’ve had a big following since they opened this San Francisco offshoot of Orenchi Ramen in Santa Clara. The front of the restaurant is all glass, so you can see the ramen chefs putting dishes together. Sometimes, there’s a DJ playing music—it’s very hip. Their Orenchi Beyond Ramen has soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, and a tonkatsu slice in a rich, pork fatback broth. It’s super rich, and you see all the meaty, juicy trimmings in there, which adds a very dense, rich flavor.
