Food, drinks & service on a par with the Pipe & Glass, although not quite so much space/atmosphere. Slightly cheaper, but then you're not quite so pampered...

Andrew Pern, Michelin Star. One our favourites. Market menu at lunch time, as well as à la carte and tasting menus. No need to book in week for bar lunches, but definitely do so on the weekends. The Market menu is a changing set menu which provides a more affordable option. Gin addicts should try York Gin's Old Tom Gin which was created with the chef's at the Star Inn. £££ The Star has now reopened after a fire which gutted the place. The beams have been now constructed out of tree which fell in the gales at Duncombe Park and all the oak furniture from 'The Mouseman' at nearby at Kilburn
