If you're headed out to see the Point Arena Lighthouse, add this hike to your adventure! The coastline along these trails will take your breath away. You really feel the power of the ocean as it beats across the rocks, etching it's indelible mark on the bluffs and carving out majestic rock outcroppings. Be sure to take your camera! Most of the hiking along the headlands is moderate. The ground can be uneven with dips, twists and turns, but it's not taxing. Only go as far as you want to walk back to your car. And for heaven's sake.... stay off the edge of the bluffs! ALWAYS assume the edges are unstable. That extra foot or two closer will not make any view more extraordinary. Be safe!

Classic north coast ocean meets cliffside beauty. This place is for everyone - walkers, hikers, photographers, fishers, birders. 9.2 miles to south and west.

Stornetta Lands is one of the newer and larger parks in the area with lots of trails scattered over a wide area, the Point Arena lighthouse, a recently added labyrinth (inside the lighthouse area so requires admission), and lots of beautiful ocean and bluff hiking trails. I like to park at Point Arena City Hall (11 miles up the road from me) and enter the trailhead there and walk along the coastline. Or drive the Lighthouse road (another mile) and pull over at hiking trails along the way.
