Church Ope Cove is a small secluded beach on the sheltered eastern side of the Isle of Portland in Dorset, southern England. It is found close to the village of Wakeham.

We refer to the churchyard ruins as Pirates Graveyard….. take a stroll and you’ll see why! 10 minute’s walk from us through Wakeham, upon the east side of Portland. This beautiful, hidden cove has tranquil blue waters. Overlooking the cove are the ruins of the oldest castle upon Portland called Bow and Arrow Castle. Walk down the footpath to the left of Pennsylvania Castle and visit the ruins of the old church & Pirate’s graveyard.

Church Ope Cove is a lovely hidden beach. The steps down and back up are not for the faint hearted but it’s certainly worth it!
