Virginians are never without opportunities for adventure. Whether that be a forested trail, a mountain overlook, or a beautiful day trip to the beach, there are countless ways to appreciate the scenic landscape. And then…there are some truly thrilling opportunities. Take the suspended bridge over the Tye River for example. On the one hand, it offers a breathtaking view of the landscape yet on the other hand, the thought of setting foot on this particular walkway could make your head dizzy. Located in Nelson County, the Tye River suspension bridge can be accessed from the Appalachian Trail.

Absolutely amazing hike, not a casual hike or a good choice if you are looking for a short day hike. You will want to plan for an overnight hike if you plan to tackle the entire trail.

Find access to the AT just up route 56. Head up the Priest or across the river to Three Ridges.
