St Martin's church in the Monmouthshire hamlet of Cwmyoy has been called the 'crookedest church in Britain'. This intriguing medieval building was erected on a sloping site that suffers from subsidence due to an ancient landslide, and over time the walls, the roofs, and noticeably, the tower, have gone wildly out of alignment. 🗺️ 15.8 miles from Ynys Hut. 📌 Abergavenny, NP7 7NT.

This church was built on a landslide, and continued to move after it was built. The church tower leans more than the leaning tower of Pisa! There isn’t a right angle in the place. It’s quirky, beautiful, and very disorienting. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautifully situated church with crooked walls and leaning tower. Park just behind it and walk up the mountain. (access on tiny roads!)
