Palace Orsetti or Palazzo Diodati of Lucca is an ancient building built by Diodati family in the sixteenth century, on the foundations of a medieval palace. It has internal rooms of great value.

English Version Palazzo Orsetti or Palazzo Diodati Orsetti is an ancient building of Lucca built by the Diodati family in the sixteenth century, on the foundations of a medieval palace. Today it is one of the offices of the Municipality of Lucca, where the Mayor's and the Giunta's offices are located. Opposite the building is the garden, surrounded by high walls. The building has two imposing facades, both with monumental entrances. The sandstone frames bear trophies in relief; at the top of a portal there is a merman, at the top of the other a siren. Interior From both entrances you enter a long corridor in the middle of which opens a spectacular staircase. From a courtyard which can be accessed from Via Santa Giustina, you enter a secondary entrance where there is a painting depicting "Santa Cecilia" made by Onofrio Avellino. On the ground floor, in the northern wing there are some beautiful rooms with murals from the 19th century. On the staircase are various paintings depicting the elderly, gonfalonieri and senators of the Republic of Lucca. On the landing we see "The conspiracy against Wallenstein" by Pietro Paolini and a love and psyche of Pontormo. On the first floor there are various beautiful rooms among which the one called degli Specchi and the Sala della Musica stand out. Hall of Mirrors This room represented the ballroom of the building. It is decorated with original elements of the eighteenth century, empire style furniture. The room is used for official meetings. Green Room This room was the living room of the building. It owes its name to the green curtains and the green brocade upholstery that covers the walls. Today it is used for the celebration of civil marriages. Music Hall This room is furnished with original furniture and upholstery. It has a beautiful 18th century chandelier and sumptuous red curtains. The acoustics of the hall was particularly taken care of by the architect who built it. Other rooms On the main floor there are other rooms decorated in neoclassical style in one of which you can see a beautiful 17th century painting with the allegory of the Republic of Lucca bearing the motto Charitas et Veritas Iustitia et Pax Osculatae Sunt. On the highest floor of the building the rooms are disengaged by long internal corridors illuminated by light sockets on the roof. In the north wing two rooms preserve the 16th century ceilings with decorated wooden beams. Palazzo Orsetti o Palazzo Diodati Orsetti è una antica costruzione di Lucca realizzata dalla famiglia Diodati nel Cinquecento, sulle fondamenta di un palazzo medievale. Oggi è una delle sedi del Comune di Lucca, dove si trovano gli uffici del Sindaco e della Giunta. Di fronte al palazzo c'è il giardino, circondato da alte mura. Il palazzo presenta due facciate imponenti, entrambe dotate di entrata monumentale. Le cornici in arenaria recano trofei in rilievo; alla sommità di un portale vi è un tritone, alla sommità dell'altro una sirena. Interni Da entrambe le entrate si accede ad un lungo corridoio a metà del quale si apre uno scenografico scalone. Da un cortiletto cui si accede da Via Santa Giustina si entra in un ingresso secondario ove si trova il dipinto raffigurante "Santa Cecilia" realizzato da Onofrio Avellino. Al piano terreno, nell'ala settentrionale ci sono alcune belle stanze con pitture murali del XIX secolo. Sullo scalone sono vari dipinti raffiguranti anziani, gonfalonieri e senatori della Repubblica di Lucca. Sul pianerottolo si vedono "La congiura ai danni di Wallenstein" di Pietro Paolini e un amore e psiche del Pontormo. Al primo piano si trovano varie belle sale tra cui risaltano quella detta degli Specchi e la Sala della Musica. Sala degli Specchi Questa stanza rappresentava la sala da ballo del palazzo. È decorata con elementi originali del Settecento, mobili stile impero. La sala è usata per incontri ufficiali. Sala Verde Questa sala costituiva il soggiorno del palazzo. Deve il suo nome ai tendaggi verdi ed alla tappezzeria verde in broccato che ricopre le pareti. Ad oggi è utilizzata per la celebrazione di matrimoni civili. Sala della Musica Questa sala è arredata con mobili e tappezzeria originali. Presenta un bellissimo lampadario del Settecento e dei sontuosi tendaggi rossi. L'acustica della sala è stata particolarmente curata dall'architetto che la realizzò. Altre sale Al piano nobile ci sono altre salette decorate in stile neoclassico in una delle quali si può vedere un bel quadro del XVII secolo con l'allegoria della Repubblica di Lucca recante il motto Charitas et Veritas Iustitia et Pax Osculatae Sunt. Al piano più alto dell'edificio le stanze sono disimpegnate da lunghi corridoi interni illuminati da prese di luce poste sul tetto. Nell'ala nord due stanze conservano i soffitti del XVI secolo con travi in legno decorati.
